Jordan - Milk distribution

Many Iraqi refugees and low-income families in Jordan cannot afford to buy milk or may not be aware of the importance of milk in meeting basic nutritional needs. MCC is partnering with Caritas to provide milk powder to improve the nutrition and health of children, women with osteoporosis and the elderly in communities located in three regions within Jordan. The bags of vitamin-rich, powdered milk are distributed through volunteers’ activities in local parishes and social centers. At least 150 families with children and people with chronic diseases related to calcium deficiency will be part of this milk distribution. Training is available on good nutrition practices and how to use the milk to produce cheese, yogurt and other products for household consumption.
