Ayaka Matsuo of Nagasaki, Japan, holds a poster she made completing the phrase, “Peace is . . . . ” Each year, an MCC-supported peace camp brings together young people from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (South Korea). In getting to know one another, campers learn to set aside historical prejudices between their countries and break down stereotypes. Games and outdoor activities foster friendship and help campers reflect on how to resolve conflicts without violence and encourage each other to pursue peace.
