Starting the middle of August I will be launching a new adventure Service and Learning Together (SALT), a program through Mennonite Central Committee. I will be stationed in Kasese, Uganda working as a Nurse Intern in St Paul's Health Centre. This is a one year contract. I am blessed to be able to begin practicing my skills as a nurse that I have acquired over the past four years of school at Goshen College.

Kasese, Uganda is located on the Western portion of Uganda and lies in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Malaria and respiratory problems account for the majority of hospitalizations. Healthy family planning and perinatal care are important to improving the health of the community, which I will be participating in as well.

Equally important to working in a clinic will be living with a host family and engaging in a community. One goal of this assignment is to strengthen my relationship with God. I believe walking in community with my host family will provide an excellent platform for this to happen.

Funds raised: $2,700.00 towards the goal of $5,700.00
