Hello friends and family!
I am excited to share with you that beginning in August, I will be serving in the Middle East with Mennonite Central Committee’s (MCC) Serving and Learning Together (SALT) program! The SALT program provides a year-long cross-cultural service experience for Christian young adults from the United States and Canada to serve around the world in the areas of peace, relief and development. I will be working as a Refugee Caseworker with a refugee service provider that works to enhance the quality of life for refugees and vulnerable migrants through education, legal, and psychosocial services. They serve people from many places, including Ethiopia, Iraq, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, and Syria. As a Refugee Caseworker, I will provide direct services to refugees, including adults, families, and unaccompanied youth, through information, advice and support either on a one-to one basis, or in groups. I will also support the psychosocial program by providing administrative and technical assistance with programming, monitoring, and training.
After having a wonderful experience serving in Uganda, I am grateful to be able to pursue another opportunity I am especially passionate about. I look forward to growing and learning in a new context and taking that experience with me when I start law school in the fall of 2020. During my time in Uganda I relied on the amazing generosity and support of my community and I know that I cannot enter this next season alone.
Above all, I would love your support through prayer and encouragement as I prepare to serve. In addition, while MCC will be covering half of my expenses for the year, I will be responsible for raising a minimum of $5,700 to help meet the remaining costs. If you are able to support me financially, I would greatly appreciate your generosity! Any donation can be given through this website. (Donations are tax-deductible.)
Thank you so much for supporting and encouraging me as I prepare for this next season of life!
